Surrender

Surrender

“I surrender all to You”

“Take control of my life..”

“Not my will but YOURS be done” – Luke 22: 49 –

How many times are we praying, singing or proclaiming those words but are we living them out? I mean are we still worrying or stressing out, aren’t we missing the point here?

As a matter of fact, surrender requires a bit of courage, lots of trusts and definitely faith.

During my Discipleship Training School, we had a ministry day at the end of one of our lecture weeks. All of the students and staff had the week to pray about what God wanted us to surrender, to let GO, to let Him take control. I remember that was a hard week for me, part of me “loves” having control of those things God wants me to lay down. It is like an excuse for me to stress and worry because I am on my own. But that’s so wrong, it’s not meant to be like that!

It should be seen as a privilege to be able to give control of our lives and all that keeps us worried to God, to the King of kings, the Most High.

What does the Bible say?

The Bible never mentions “Worry about it” “Stress over it” “Figure it out”. But it always says “T R U S T   G O D“!

Let Go! – Let GOD!

Why would we even want the desire to be in control of our lives, on our own? It says in the Bible, in Jeremiah 29: 11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”. Let’s trust God together. It might be scary because we don’t know what He has in store for us, but trust me, it will be perfect and for sure way better than what we had in store for ourselves.

To continue my story, I remember that day very well. I decided to surrender my passport, my family, and my future husband. Seriously, it was hard. In fact that day I decided to stop worrying and to put my trust in the Lord and not in myself for my future. We had to lay things down at a cross to symbolize what we’ve surrendered. My passport meant “Send me, God”. My family meant “Take care of them, God”.

All I can say to this today is that it turned out pretty good. I am from Switzerland, currently volunteering in Australia with Youth With A Mission Gold Coast. My family supports me in what I am doing here, …and God has even taken care of “my future husband” part.

I am truly content and blessed here doing what God has called me to do and it’s all because I allowed God to take control of my life and choosing to surrender to His will!
