What Do We Want To Be Known For?

Early 2016, we had a stirring in our hearts, at YWAM Gold Coast, regarding some movement God was going to be equipping us for. It was never articulated until we spent extensive time in prayer, as a leadership team. God was increasing our staff in number and growing our ministries. In the midst of this movement, the Lord led us to answer this question: ‘What do we want to be known for?’

We believe this question should be intentionally considered within every ministry. As a team, we had our own thoughts and ideas [ie. further developing training, evangelism, discipleship]. However, as we prayed, God began to speak into the ‘heart of leadership’ at YWAM Gold Coast. The Lord led us to see our centre as a place that honours the name of Jesus, having ‘deep wells of intimacy’ flowing from its community.

This journey has been an Abrahamic experience. God spoke to us in a simple way without significant detail. Yet, we sensed there was a strong word from the Lord in our midst.

There are times when the Lord does not attach detail to his plan. His heart for us is to ceaselessly engage with Him and rely on the word he has given. Our trust in the Lord strengthens when we choose to be obedient to him.

‘Trust’ and ‘Obedience’ are the words that describe the adventurous journey the Lord has taken us on in this 2016 year. This season has allowed me to see where I have put my own ideas before the wisdom of God.

This exercise of faith has proven to be more challenging than anticipated. However, this experience has brought our centre into greater alignment with the will of God and how we do life, as a community, with Jesus.
